2025 Political Thread

I always thought Musk and DOGE were misguided, but I honestly thought they had good intentions... at least until today.

How can you justify laying off hundreds of employees from an organization that is directly involved in safeguarding the livelihood of millions of people through weather forecasts, watches and warnings, when said organization (NOAA/NWS) was already understaffed to begin with?

At least, that's the nicest way I can put it. A few choice words popped into my head when I first heard about this, but I'll refrain from saying them here because they'd certainly get me banned.

Yeah, there's a lot of work to be done...especially by those of us who are building the country that they and their families will be living in and celebrating a tricentennial for in 2076.

I'm too old for any more really tough decisions and outreach and all that -- and frankly Joe and Donald are too old, too. Personally, I suspect they're both demented, Elon is off his meds, and JD has been peter-principled into his current position. The hardest job will be identifying and getting at the puppetmasters (whoever they might be???) of those public figures and others (some Congress critters, press, etc.), and bringing them to account.

It's silly, but I want to see a gentle purple rain all over the billionaire boys' club's parade, not the funky Prince Rogers kind but a blend of red and blue, lightened into beautiful shades by some judicious application of morality our flag's third color.

Elon is going to build a better weather forecasting agency using Artemis who will be driven to each WFO using robotaxis. Promises made, promises kept. Sounds like those NWS employees were on the Esptein list.) If you don't like it, well, the Gitmo expansion is in the works. Kash and Bongino can make plenty of room for weather dorks. I am appalled by your complete failure to mention what's causing the disasters in the first place. It's not just chemtrails, every tornado is created by the Democratic Party utilizing HAARP to punish Trump voters, or a sign of the end times, depending on what mood I'm in. Of course this doesn't apply to natural disasters that happen in blue states, which are all caused by God punishing Democrat voters just for the hell of it. After all, every single Californian is just a liberal candy @ss and every Texan is a good Trump supporting alpha male.

You know...sometimes I get so excited imagining the Libs and illegals being locked up in Gitmo that I forget things. You're absolutely right. The NWS used HAARP in the NC mountains to stop the Conservative bastion of Asheville from voting in the election. Trump's landslide would've been even more landslidey if the blue-haired NWS freaks didn't deploy a WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION on American soil. They're terrorists!!!

I feel like the Republic jumped the shark with the choices we were given in 2024(and really you could say that about 2016 and 2020). I voted, just not for President. I didn't even write anybody in.

I just hope I'm old enough at 53 to never have to learn how to speak Chinese or Russian.

Yeah, my son is an Aerospace major at UAH and took Mandarin on purpose. Not an easy language, for sure.

Super cool and unique, tonal languages are HARD though, especially for lifetime English-speakers like myself.
 
Don't think I need to be saying this, but rest assured that my and Evan's posts are a nice example of satire.

BUT... there are unfortunately lots of people who would unironically agree with those posts, not realizing they're satire. Those individuals can be found in bulk in the comment sections of Facebook and YouTube videos. Twitter (or whatever the hell it's called now) is the exact same thing, but the opposite end of the political spectrum.
 
Absolutely disgraceful performance by Trump and Vance today in the meeting with Zelenskyy. I'm betting very few Republicans voted for that nonsense either.

It's also the weakest I think I have ever seen America act on a world stage. How far we have fallen, and to have an American president be a bootlicker to RUSSIA like that is just a dagger to the heart of anyone who lived through the cold war - or should be, at least. Absolutely disgraceful.

Russia's response is all one needs to see. I think when Trump convinced many that he could end the war quickly as president, they assumed with strength, not by being cowardly in the face of empty Russia threats.
