Winter threat: 1/9-12/ 25

The back edge of the heavy precip is approaching Bham. Barely misting a little here now. No big accumulations of freezing rain, and lots of melting of the 3.5 inches we got here - about 2 or so left, but it's enough to keep it pretty. Nice surprise morning of snow. Roads are slushy - hope they'll get a chance to dry out and melt off some, but I expect we're going to have some refreezing issues.

We ended up with about 4.5" of snow in Meridianville(really Moores Mil). Turned to sleet late, but very light. Temp has hovered about 32.2-32.5 for the last couple of hours.

Radar indicates it is back to snow IMBY but nothing is reaching the ground. Local TV said expect more snow later. I guess much later because I see very little headed this way.

This was a good snow for SW Blount.

Light precip is changing over to rain; LSR reports 0.25" ice accretion in Carroll Co.

We lost power in Brushy Pond (SW Cullman County), but thankfully, it just came back after about half an hour. i sure do hope it stays on. It was starting to scare me. Ice is the w.o.r.s.t. I have been through a long icy outage before and I don't want ANY part of that today! I hope y'all are all staying warm!

I’m setting at 34.5 with almost the exact same conditions here. The column should be cold enough to support another round of snow if the Bham precip holds together long enough to make it to my area. I just took a quick drive around and noticed on the elevated areas of the road there is already some refreezing happening.

Oh no!! I hope it doesn't go back off!

One one hand, thankfully right now it seems like the precip. is just plain ol' rain. On the other hand, I'm noticing it's really waterlogging the snow, and I'm not looking forward to that freezing overnight.

I noticed that. Even in the cleared spots and tire tracks a lot of water was still on the road. This may be a huge mess as soon as temps start to drop
