Uh...almost seemingly impossible, but the Air Force mission into Beryl just found FL winds of Cat 5 strength and SFMR estimated surface winds also at Cat 5 strength. Note SFMR is known to overestimate sometimes in strong hurricanes, but still. That this storm isn't going quietly into the night is just a testament to the insanity that is Beryl. Wow. There's 2 planes in now, so we should get some confirmation or at least other data to support how strong Beryl still is or isn't. I fully expected a weak Cat 4, but it still seems to be maintaining itself remarkably.

Oh I didn't even notice #10, so there's 3 planes in there right now. They're really sampling it hard! Good data coming in for the models hopefully.
Looks like it's sampling the upper (and lower, since the dropsondes fall down to the ground) atmosphere around and inside Beryl.

I can't *really* believe the 150+ knot readings, so I'm patiently waiting lol With that many planes flying around it, we'll know soon if it's truly still a high-end Cat 4 or anything like that.

Yeah, its EWRC completed a bit ago and *somehow* it didn't really weaken, despite the growing shear and hostile environment. This storm is really giving me goosebumps about the season ahead. The canary is dead, y'all.
Reminds me of Wilma, despite 40 knots of shear, that storm managed to maintain itself somehow. How large is Beryl atm?
This year just can't get enough of ridiculous weather, it seems.
Not sure of the exact size but definitely a significant amount smaller than Wilma was at peak.
Beryl is literally cheating. All the other hurricanes who experienced high shear are jealous

The 0z update for BTK isn't in yet, but the 2 PM (18z) one has TS-force winds extending out 270 miles in the NE quadrant.

Dropsonde in the northWEST eye wall measured a wind speed (could've been a gust) of 132 knots (152 mph). Haven't gotten a solid reading out of the NE eye wall yet.
