Winter Weather/Extreme Cold Threat 1/13-1/17

Well the newest hrrr run. Has it worst than what it's had all day for i20 lol. Pretty much a quart of inch along the interstate.

Id say we may need a extension of the winter storm
Surprised we haven’t seen it yet. The short term models have been very consistent today, yet BMX has stayed conservative, suggesting only “light” bridge/overpass icing in Central Alabama.

Interesting look. The SPC Mesoanalysis here is predicting any precipitation that might fall on the latest RAP. Outside of eastern TN, *it's almost all freezing rain and sleet* everywhere else...and given the latest HRRR, it looks like that will continue...

Legend:

6 - IP/SN: Mix of Sleet and Snow
7 - SN-: Light Snow
8 - SN: Snow
9 - SN+: Heavy Snow

Meanwhile, there's only a 5 degree temperature difference between Holly Springs, MS (11) and North Pole, Alaska (6)

I'm going to have to agree with BMX. It's still in the 40s around Bham. Just doesn't seem like the temps will get low enough fast enough to cool things before the rain gets here.
