Big snowflakes mixed with sleet now
Cullman City Schools are closed for tomorrow.Good afternoon,
After consulting with the Cullman County EMA, the National Weather Service and in response to Governor Ivey’s State of Emergency for 25 Alabama Counties including Cullman, we have decided to cancel school for tomorrow, Tuesday, January 16th. Pay attention to media outlets for any further developments as we brace for this winter storm. Stay safe Bearcats.
I'm still not convinced it's going to fall as liquid. I think the models are underestimating the thickness of the surface freezing layer. OK, so maybe I'm wishcasting a little bit.Yep the HRRR is dead set on the i20 corridor getting .20 inch of freezing rain

I'm not claiming it'll be snow, but sleet seems to have been the more frequent outcome so far.Proceed![]()
I would jump up and down in my house if it did snow instead of rain hahahaI'm not claiming it'll be snow, but sleet seems to have been the more frequent outcome so far.
I'm at 40 here in extreme South/southwest Blount. Dropped about by 5 degrees from Birmingham driveAfter briefly peaking at 34, the temp has started to fall again here in far western Blount county - down to 33.

Talk about sitting on the freezing line - It's been right there for a while.
Radar shows some returns, but I've yet to see anything fall from the sky.
Yeah, the difference between the Hayden and the Blount Springs exit was about 5 degrees. This is what David and I were talking about yesterday - the mountain here in Smoke Rise seems to often be the dividing line. It is again today - north of here things get messy.I would jump up and down in my house if it did snow instead of rain hahaha

Yeah I was looking at the temp obs here in the Bham/Bessy area and they have risen to the upper 40's already with some filtered sunshine. I calculated the wet bulbing as of now at about 42 so we will absolutely need a CAA push or some frozen precip in the upper levels to bring it down until we do get some CAA. Hopefully we do get a bump from the airmass nearby making the push with the precip...but I am jaded when it comes to this and these set ups.I would jump up and down in my house if it did snow instead of rain hahaha

Yes and it stinks to high heaven! I am ready to bag a unicorn soon though, sick of missing out so often! Where in the heck is that "Rob Smith Snow Shield" as well? I want to strap some TNT to it too and detonate it. LOL!As anyone who has ever been a snow fan in central Alabama is. We are unicorn hunters.
Sounds like that artic air is on the move. I'll check mine in a bit as wellMy temp has dropped 2 degrees in the last hour 38.3 now. Maybe the Artic air is sinking futher south.
