Canadian and euro show a low pressure off the coast of Alabama the GFS being the outlier. With both the Euro and Canadian showing a little snow

I just hope there's no rug pull last this last event lol. Just give me 2-3 inches of snow lol. The event needs more consistency and consensus with models though

Latest nam run still showing snow, it has a dusting to a inch for parts of Alabama and Mississippi

i would say there is good chance that the precip will be further north and more widespread, assuming phasing happens just to the west and there may be a periord where the pac trough tilts expanding precip and duration...all just speculation and things to watch for in the coming days...check out the isobars, we cyclonic flow over Alabama...its a fairly good bet there will be more precip, but there will be some dry air to fight


but there is a chance the main jet is just too much and suppresses/shears out the the st trough..thats why upper flow never goes southwest over alabama..just west.

Regardless of precip, this looks to be a VERY cold weekend...not getting above freezing at all on Saturday in central Alabama.

Thread 'January 30th-February 1st Winter Storm potential'

I'll go ahead and start this. Model agreement is starting to lock in a potentially significant winter storm, accompanied by an unusually cold airmass on the back end of things.

I'm currently in Charleston, SC for the foreseeable future, so my weather focus is shifting more towards the rest of the forum on average. Looks like accumulating snow is a real possibility this weekend here.
