Winter Weather Season 2025-26

Yes!!! I checked your profiles.. you and Kevin H… stop the trolling!! Yeah mines not impressive.. at one time it was.. the old folks know me.. and most of them now run the resurrected Talkweather… you think my small score means little.. been on here over 20 years… my avatar.. a remembrance of a storm that baffled us all on a Feb 2…sometimes it’s better to learn in silence than to keep posting ignorance. If you truly didn’t know that blue was snow on this particular map.. now you do.. (Julia Sugarbaker sarcasm added)
I don’t know what diatribe you’re on about, but I can read a precipitation map. I’m not trolling

With the incoming cold and ice mass it will flow over from the first storm.. I would say our worry again could be suppression.. hopefully not! This is a nothing burger for us this weekend.. @Taylor Campbell .. I’m 35 min due south of you

It's is definitely suppressed in the latest Euro 6z model. It's been flip-flopping in the GFS runs. I'm definitely wish casting...no measurable snow since 2018.

Um… no! Blue is snow! Purple is sleet.. pink freezing rain.. Been on Talkweather since its first existence with Jack Watkins..a loooong time ago!!
Me, Brent, AARC, Xtreme( hope he’s ok.. haven’t seen him in a while) Lori, Jack Watkins, Cyclogent, and many others I have forgotten along with beloved Perry Williams…
Rest in peace, Jack, Perry, and others who may have passed away during Covid pandemic… whomever revived this forum.. many thanks!♥️

Actually, ABC 33/40 were the ones who first created the forum many moons ago and John Oldshue oversaw it. (I've been here since 2002 and it was already in existence then. Yes, I'm old.)

Don’t look now, but the latest GFS has next weekend a stripe of 2-3ft of snow stretching from Alabama to North Carolina

You just broke the internet posting that map. Lol. I can’t recall ever seeing a forecast that insane for snow across the southeast. With what I’ve seen in the models I was expecting an insanity run to show the full potential, but that run is a different level.

Curious to see what the ensembles show. I’m guessing happy hour came early today for the GFS.

I almost did a double take for next weekend off of the 12z GFS. The operational GFS seems to be on an island though. GEFS only has a few members that are in line with the operational and ECMWF and GEM are in the same neighborhood as the GEFS mean. Definitely still bears watching.

Was going to mention the same thing. The ensembles and euro are all showing a suppressed system. Maybe this next system will trend north as well.

That even tore up the old DGEX maps!!! Lawd!!! I ain’t never seen that ever!! 20 something years!!

so when do we get to start talking about the GFS for next week? Am I supposed to pretend that it isn't spitting out 2-3 feet of snow along the I-20 and I-85 corridors? If this current (non) event for most of Alabama didn't exist, there would already be a thread about this with people posting the snow porn...

One thing that hasn’t been talked about much is how much snowpack will be across the country and how a large an area will be well below freezing for an extended time, well into next week, which will have residual impacts in later extended forecasts
Heh. Holy cow, yeah. If this verifies next week, it would make up for a lot of disappointment for Alabama folks.

(lala land GFS - no, I do not think this will verify, but like Richard says, the setup for storms after this one will have plenty of cold air)

Let's wait till Monday, let this event happen, and then take a better and closer look at the next system.

Jinx. LOL

Mix in a water GFS. Can't say I wouldn't like a foot of snow in ATL, but I'll take whatever gets me out of the office for a couple days lol.
