Weather Banter

yes slowly but surely
Freezing Parks And Recreation GIF by MOODMAN

Lets go!!

It took me a while to get used to the Mediterranean-style climate. That first summer, up in Oregon, I thought a terrible drought had hit and all the plants were going to die. Next year, it was just "Cool! Sunshine again for a few months!"

That said, it has been cooler and a little more wet here, too.

Notice East Moncton its clear but radar is picking something up.

extra note its seen on a different radar as well.
edit
whatever this thing is it started higher in the atmosphere and is spreading out and going downwards closer to the ground.

Earlier it was seen at tilt 2.7 and smaller , while tilt 0.4 could not see it , its no longer visible at tilt 2.7 but not visible at 0.4 tilt.

here is a image on differential reflectivity

i live close enough to this long thing and there is nothing seen at ground level , and it was completely clear at that spot 10 min ago , some clouds are now moving from the north now but they just came in.

I wonder if it could be refraction off of the ground (i.e. the radar beams being refracted into the ground, and the antenna picking up on those return signals). That can happen sometimes depending on the atmospheric conditions and how they interact with the radar beams.

Meanwhile, in Mexico, one heckuva strong series of thunder booms set off seismometers -- wonder what the lightning did...

X translation: "This morning at 4:03 a.m., a loud thunderclap was heard (and woke me up) in the South of Mexico City. The Raspberry seismometer on its vertical channel clearly detected it, followed by two other small thunderclaps. The@sensor is on the 16th floor."
