UPGRADE SUMMARY
TalkWeather Forums will be offline from 31AUG3018 11:00pm (central) until 01SEP2018 12:00am (1 hour)
Updates during and after the upgrade will be posted at https://blog.talkweather.com
Good afternoon everyone,
Tomorrow evening (31AUG2018) at 11:00pm central, we will begin a series of upgrades for the forum software as well as the underlying hosting environment. During this time the forum will be inaccessible and should be back online around midnight.
These upgrades will allow us to add several new features to the site down the road, along with increased speed and security. Over the past year and a half, we have had several major weather events and through the efforts of @JayF and myself, we were able to achieve a 99% uptime during those events. This upgrade will help us maintain that high-availability through a new more powerful database setup and that will continue to allow us to easily scale our performance during those major events.
Another change will be the look of the forum. Based on the results and comments submitted during our annual member survey, we will be moving back to a more traditional forum branding. However, we will also be keeping this current theme as an option for anyone that prefers it.
Thanks for your patience during this brief outage,
Wes
