Oh my god...

Hopefully a lot of those are just miscommunications and not actually deceased. It sounds like a big challenge has been figuring out who all might have been camped or staying in the RV parks, and I'm not sure what records were kept if any or what records may have survived the flooding in those areas, so they're going to have to rely a lot on some second hand info to ascertain who all was there. Total nightmare.

I hope this isn't ignorant or giving false hope, but I don't think it's possible for a sizeable amount of that 161 to be dead. They've been combing the area relentlessly for 4 days now. It doesn't seem like there's any way that many bodies could still be hidden. It's gotta just be talking about people unaccounted for at the moment right? Right?! :(

Because if I'm wrong, this flood could be equal to Helene... and in a much smaller area. A messed up fact about Helene is that the storm killed 250 people, but 74 of those were from post-storm events like accidents during cleanup or medical emergencies. Just goes to show the challenges and dangers search and rescue crews face with a disaster like this.
