Well to my knowledge, there are quite a few Georgian/Victorian era homes still knocking about in the UK, especially Victorian terrace homes found in large cities especially. Looking round Portsmouth, it looks like there are quite a few renovated Victorian homes. However worth noting parts of Portsmouth were bombed in WW2 so many house are likely to be post 1950s and the area where tornado is supposed to have gone through (Old Portsmouth - Southsea Common) looks to be lots of greenspace right now. I would say its entirely possible that some of these types of houses would still be standing given other housing of this era around where the tornado was suposed to have gone through, albeit with renovations (specifically to roof structures) so maybe we wouldn't get the best idea of construction quality, so its quite hard to say - not really an answer to your question!

Is it possible that the brick homes seen today in that area of Portsmouth are the same type of homes there in 1810, or is that unlikely? There's a frustrating lack of detail with that one, despite it being the most recent, relatively speaking.

As far as I know, in addition to razing the dairy farm, the woldegk tornado in Germany in 1764 also caused potentially impressive tree damage. It is said that it also pulled out an oak stump only 30 cm from the ground and dismembered some livestock. Therefore, even if it does not reach F5 strength, the tornado can still be very violent1643844185548.jpeg

I found a video where the kinds that were in the house are interviewed. I’ll try to translate it later and post it here.
So, here is the video:

The boy in the video was thrown more than 150 yards away from his house, and at the moment the tornado struck there were only him and his little brother in the house

What he says in the video is that his little brother got scared with the increasingly worsen weather conditions and when he went to the window to see what was going on, he saw trees starting to get snapped. So he went to his brother that was in the sofa in the living room to protect him. He kept his eyes to the window and saw mud and leaves being thrown against the glass until everything got dark. When this happened is as if the house exploded and he saw himself flying in the air with all kinds of debris around him. He recall the strong smell of fresh cut wood when this happened. After this he passed out and only woke up minutes later after his family arrived on the property.

Some notes about the house:
All exterior walls were made with masonry bricks with cement reinforcement both externally and internally. Besides the bathroom walls, all interior walls that divided the rooms were made with wood.
What I find interesting about this event is the house having the external edges made with what seemed like some reinforced cement.

Some interesting quotes from the newspaper account of San Justo 1973 tornado (some of the translations are probably wrong):

Alli del otro lado de la ruta puede alcanzar a ver la rueda de un tractor semienterrado. Exe tractor, que es del modelo mas grande, loucbicamos ayer en la playa detrasdel edificio y tiene 5500 kilogramos. El viento lo levanto como si fuera una pelota - There on the other side of the road you can see the wheel of a half-buried tractor. This tractor, which is the largest model, was found yesterday on the beach behind the building and weighs 5500 kilograms. The wind lifted it as if it were a ball.

- Of the companies located on the right side of Route 11, Saberta y Cia and Saberta Automotores suffered the most damage. The modern premises of the latter have been reduced to rubble and underneath them the remains of many zero kilometer automobiles. Further back, a sector of the beach that was full of tractors and trucks was left clean as if it had been swept by a sweeper. A new cream-colored coupe had completely disappeared. Some vehicles that had been thrown into the air began to disintegrate above, and about 50 meters from the car dealership a complete engine can still be seen embedded in a wall.

Y seguimos nuestra recorrida. -
And we continued our tour. A few meters ahead we were astonished. And I said to myself: here in this place were the facilities of the Cooperativa Federal Agricola de San Justo, its huge sheds and silos. Everything was a shapeless mass of sheets and blocks of rubble. Underneath it all you could make out some pallets with bagged cereals, which were caught by the structures before the wind blew them away.

- Another evidence of the tragedy is the foundations of some masonry houses that were completely razed, leaving the foundations at ground level and the floors adhered.

This crazy video from inside a vehicle that was tipped over by the tornado clearly shows the darkness described in that eyewitness account. This thing was completely rain-wrapped.

Yup! This is a interesting feature of tornadoes in that region: they tend to have a lower base and be rain wrapped. I can’t remember of a single clear view of a cone or stove pipe tornado in the western parts of Santa Catarina state or Missiones province! They are all wedges and you are lucky if you have a clear view of the condensation funnel.
Another interesting feature is actually the region topography, which resembles more the Appalachia than, for example the US tornado Alley or Dixie Alley. Very unique tornado prone region!
As for the Tangará tornado, I think it’s possible that I was an EF4. Even if the masonry house it leveled didn’t had the best construction quality in the world, it definitely had better reinforcement than a lot of houses that got leveled in the region by other tornadoes, specifically those reinforced columns at the edges that serve as anchoring.

More aerial imagery of the 2016 Funing tornado. You can see debris marks in some of these.

Sometimes I wonder how the soil plays a role in tornado damage! Like, can you put into account how abrasive is the soil where a tornado hit, to consider for example, the winds speed necessary for a debarked tree? This tornado was definitely a strong tornado, but aerial footage doesn’t correlate to structural damage as seen in other storms like that Spanish tornado brought up in this thread a few pages behind. What someone can noticed though is that where the tornado hit in Spain had a very sandy soil.

Funing didn't produce any noticeable ground scouring, the ground is just muddy.

The other most significant tornado in Russian history besides Ivanovo is the 6/29/1904 Moscow F4. This large and intense tornado passed through the eastern suburbs of Moscow, missing the downtown area by 11 miles. A large swath of aspen/pine forest was mowed down, numerous wooden homes were demolished, and masonry buildings were unroofed. As this tornado occurred during the Russo-Japanese War, many details of this tornado are vague or unknown such as the death total. It ranges from as low as one to as high as 200. ESWD has a death total of 9.

Imagine recording 2 violent tornadoes tearing down your city 4 years apart, and you are outside Tornado Alley.

Tornado in Dolores, Uruguay back in 2012

Tornado in Dolores, Uruguay in 2016

Recorded by the same person from the same window!

Impressive tornado damage near the town of Ivinhema, Mato Grosso do Sul - Brazil in 1989. House was leveled with impressive damage to the flooring. The fridge was found 2.5 kilometers away from the house, and at the time of the recording, they still had not found the gas oven!

Never heard of this event before. The structural damage looks it is F3.
