At one point I was playing around with the concept of a weather radio device with internet backup that would plug into your TV and could turn the TV on and display an alert. But found out that a lot of the TV's don't have the ability as of yet. In my model I had the ability to use GPS or enter an address to make use of polygons including the ability to include polygons within X amount of miles away. Maybe down the road.
 
The Birmingham airport just had a wind gust of 75 MPH with that line coming through. You could hear the wind watching the local TV stations who are on top of Red Mountain.
 
Wow. Glad the serious portion of that MCS stayed to our south and east. While it looks like a little inland hurricane on radar, I didn't expect it to actually produce winds to hurricane force.
 
I just get uneasy about busts like this because I fear they kill more people in the long run than verified events, due to complacency the next time we have a real high-end event that verifies. I have no idea if there's any actual statistic proving that but it does seem like an issue.

That same logic is often quoted by officials in hurricane prone areas.
 
WTVY remains wall to wall and hasn't even went to commercial since my earlier post. I'm guessing they bought a block of time from CBS like they do when a hurricane strikes and are using it even though this system thankfully has under-performed for us. They seem pretty bored covering dime size hail and scattered power outages. So far so good in SE AL ;)
 
I note parameters are very impressive on the central FL panhandle; according to SPC mesoanalysis, EHI and STP are both at 5 in a narrow area between Panama City and Tallahassee. If anything significant is going to happen, it may be there in the next couple hours before the convection shifts off to the east.

Also have a couple cool loops of that little MCS for posterity.

They really need to weatherproof their radar! Adel Ga has gotten woke up by a tornado warning due to a signature shown on Tallahassee radar. Adel is much closer to Valdosta radar which is down for some reason. I understand they had to issue TOR since only available radar showed this but wouldn't it make sense to make a WEATHER radar weatherproof??
 
Yikes I stand corrected Adel TOR was legit. Still they should make sure all radars are available especially during severe events!

Yeah you can see the debris over 10000' up from both Tallahassee and Jacksonville's radar. This is a very strong and dangerous tornado.
 
WOW its actually warmed up to 72 from 64 earlier tonight and barometer is at 29.53. Im working the wife to get a better weather station that gives more info for me bday but anyway Me thinks we may be in for real storm this Sunday in SE AL :(

Concerning...Outlook upgrade

Valid 221134Z - 221300Z

SUMMARY...The 13Z Day-1 Convective Outlook will be upgraded to High
Risk for tornadoes -- some strong and long-track -- expected later
today.

DISCUSSION...Anomalously rich low-level moisture observed along the
eastern/central Gulf Coast, combined with a maintained influx of
steep midlevel lapse rates based on the 06Z Slidell LA sounding, and
the approach of a powerful midlevel cyclone from the southern Great
Plains, all suggest increasing confidence that severe thunderstorms
capable of producing strong, long-track tornadoes will be possible
with discrete supercell thunderstorms later today. Following
coordination with the affected National Weather Service Weather
Forecast Offices, an upgrade to High Risk will occur for the 13Z
Day-1 Convective Outlook. Additional meteorological details will be
provided within the forthcoming outlook discussion
