Severe Weather Threat - May 6, 2024

I think most scream Forecasted Convective Amplification Deficiency because they associate a high risk as a super outbreak type event. Multiple violent tornadoes on the ground in a short period of time. The SPC certainly did the right thing today. We are very fortunate the storms did not tap into the environment on a wide scale like Barnsdall.

Lapse rates. That's it.

Maybe so. Low-level lapse rates definitely haven't been as steep as you'd ideally want. But, I thought they'd been increasing so if that's been one of the flies in the ointment we should see an escalation soon.

Moore also experiencing at the minimum a very strong straightline wind event.
