ILX is notorious for downplaying tornado warnings in recent years (something must have changed after they issued that [perfectly accurate] TORE for the Taylorville EF3 of December 1, 2018). Just earlier today I was re-watching Skip Talbot's video of the August 6, 2023 EF2 that occurred just northwest of Taylorville, and he noted that they were at least 10 minutes late with the tornado warning and issued it as a "radar indicated rotation" despite multiple spotter/chaser reports of an ongoing large tornado.

Absolutely beautiful structure in Illinois on this MCV. Semi-discrete cells trailing off from the southeastern quadrant reach all the way down into far SE Missouri.

Yep, horizontal vortecies. Honestly thinking if the tornado was stronger than it looked on radar given its Lake City-esque appearence and motion.

I think our next area of concern will be when the south end of the line moves into Indiana. They’re staying pretty discrete right now but they aren’t in a great environment
