Severe Weather Threat January 8-10, 2026

MCD out.

Man, the shear today is pretty volatile. Significant tornado potential would easily exist but with less instability, discrete storms just won't have that good BALANCE to fully access that higher end ceiling. I would still imagine the potential for a few low end, brief tornadoes exists with any sustained discrete cell. If we're able to somewhat destabilise up there, it could be a issue given just how absurd shear gets. If this was March, indeed, a very potent outbreak would probably be on tap.

So the SPC is actually considering a Enhanced for tomorrow. BUT it's dependant on the placement of the LLJ and will that coincide with any meaningful confluence band development? It's definitely a conditional uptrend, but it is in the cards for tomorrow according to them. Tornado threat later on tonight continues to be monitored.

Oh where do you see this?
