I believe it depends from office to office. We had a tornado come through a small town here in IWX (population 6500) that was a high end EF3 back in 2007, and it had a Tornado Emergency linked to it.

At least these storms are messy and less organized as they enter Alabama. Hopefully will limit the higher end tornado potential for the next couple of hours

There is a debris signature south of Newton
They need to get a warning out ahead of that immediately

Not really. What you’re describing is basically what a PDS warning is for. Tornado emergency’s are typically reserved for when strong go violent tornadoes are going through heavily populated areas. If you issue them for every tornado you might as well just get rid of the tornado warning itself. Tornado emergencies get people’s attention because they aren’t used often. Wouldn’t be the case if we used them constantly.
I may eat my words but the high end level of violence we saw in Mississippi today may not occur as readily in Alabama due to Alabama’s current thermodynamic situation.
I’m also not sold on any OWS initiation in AL.

Unsure if already mentioned but really bizarre to have a 3.0 magnitude earthquake take place in Mississippi near some of the tornadic supercells.

30 minutes ago I ran a couple of errands on hwy280 near Grandview/Inverness. There were still people out, but traffic was noticeably lighter than on a normal Saturday. It looks like a lot of people are paying attention to the weather and staying home.

Based on the way CAPE has swelled in Mississippi over the last few hours I wouldn't count any chickens just yet. Seems like last night's HRRR runs are verifying better than the current ones. Still a lot of daylight left too. But if Instability holds steady at <1000 for the upper half of Alabama that'd be a huge win

For those who mentioned it earlier, no, North Alabama is not in the clear yet. Yes, instability may not be ideal but other parameters are very high and tornadoes are very very possible with storms in Northern Alabama.
