Severe WX Severe Weather Threat 3/14-3/16

Random question: When was the last time an area this large in Dixie had:

1. An overnight threat with
2. THIS high of a ceiling, AND
3. THIS far out, AND
4. Without too many, if any, failure modes (that seem to keep falling off as possibilities?

I have been here for 14 years and can’t remember anything like this, except for 3-3-2019 and Newnan in 2021 :(

In just talking to people that while out and about today, I fear the current messaging isn't getting through. Maybe as we get closer and confidence continues to increase the word will spread. This is one of those rare situations I think calls for strong wording. As I see it now, the chance of loss of life is too great to mince words. This is the reason why we can't use these words on a regular basis...and save it for very rare times like these

Yeah… I’ve mentioned it to 4 different people today, and no one knew anything about it.

Also I'll add, as we have learned in events before, its not just about going to a safe place at the right time, it's about planning how to get there, how to get warnings, make sure you have provisions in case you are stuck there, have a bicycle helmet.....all these items can make a huge difference in who is actually ready.

The YouTubers trying to make money off every single cloud that is modeled 200 hours in advance of every single setup as click bait "OMG VIOLENT TORNADO OUTBREAK" makes this so much harder; getting the message through to the public that THIS as opposed to the last several meager QLCS events is a truly high end threat past the amateur dreck that saturates social media feeds is incredibly frustrating

Make sure to have shoes on or have them with you. People sometimes forget about little things like that that make a big difference.

Might be easy to forget before the storm, but yeah, glass in foot = not fun.

Exactly, remember the student in Tuscaloosa? He just happened to have ordered pizza before the storm and ate...then couldn't find his shoes. He's lucky he got out and then survived until he got help.
