Severe WX Severe Weather Thread - 6/15/26 - 6/18/26

I’m telling you, that was incredibly scary. We barely caught the tornado as it dropped on Ryan Hall’s stream for the few seconds it was visible. It immediately became a wedge as soon as it dropped. The way that dropped and evolved immediately brought to mind a specific tornado mentioned earlier in the thread.

After that, it became completely rain-wrapped and virtually none of the chasers knew there was a tornado coming into Charleston, let alone the people in town. There were A TON of people driving into town just as the tornado was approaching.

I think we may have avoided a worst case scenario, I hope, but that had the potential to be absolutely devastating.

we really could’ve had another 5-6 of these. It’s a good thing that didn’t happen.

Given that multiple chasers were hit including one who literally voiced his opinion about chasers being safe in tornadoes yet got hit today, i have t imagine sometime in the future, another Skip Talbot safety video will be posted. Chasers being incredibly stupid today.

AS for today's verification talk, it still hasn't. One strong tornado in the whole moderate doesn't verify it so stop coping.

And now I can't help but imagine Skip opening up a safety video wherein, despite not saying it outright, the tone in his voice (coming off like an exasperated "How many times do we have to hammer home these lessons to everyone to get them to finally stick?!") manages to say it all.

The event hasn’t finished yet
Please, I’ve heard that so many times. The event is playing out in a more muted fashion that modeled two days ago, and that’s not even debatable. The violent high end outbreak scenario did not verify, and the Joe average smaller scale outbreak scenario did verify, period. As others are saying, a few inevitable strong tornadoes does not magically rectify the entire event as it was previously modeled. It’s a 3/15 repeat. Same outcome (actually even more mild this time), and same lessons to be learned.

I’ve said it a million times, but people needlessly spamming “but it’s not over yet!” as an event as it falls clearly short of its ceiling of potential will always be far more obnoxious than bust calls.

... both are annoying. Let the silence in the thread do its job.

El Reno 2.0 in terms of the chaser aspect minus the tornado being three miles wide.

I never expected Palm Sunday redux, but there’s still time for violent tornadoes to show up. I’m mostly pushing back against the bust talk.
