Severe WX Severe Weather 4/24-4/26

I'd agree but I remember Plevna doing similar before it went insane. Started with a bunch of lethargic tornadoes before it ramped up, I could be wrong though.
It's waning, definitely a good thing for Bartlesville considering the environment in play.

EDIT: Someone talking to Copic mentioned that it's getting obliterated by the cap. Tornadic storms could be firing near west OK however.

Man, this is gonna be a long night, new tornado watch for W OK and S KS.

* TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF
SOUTHERN KANSAS
WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL OKLAHOMA

* EFFECTIVE THIS SUNDAY NIGHT AND MONDAY MORNING FROM 940 PM
UNTIL 400 AM CDT.

* PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
A FEW TORNADOES AND A COUPLE INTENSE TORNADOES POSSIBLE
SCATTERED LARGE HAIL AND ISOLATED VERY LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 3
INCHES IN DIAMETER LIKELY
SCATTERED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH LIKELY

SUMMARY...ISOLATED SUPERCELL THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TONIGHT NEAR
A WARM FRONT LIFTING NORTHWARD INTO SOUTHERN KANSAS. THESE STORMS
WILL POSE A RISK FOR A FEW TORNADOES (SOME MAY BE STRONG), LARGE TO
VERY LARGE HAIL, AND DAMAGING WIND GUSTS. A MORE CONDITIONAL RISK
EXISTS ACROSS WESTERN OKLAHOMA ALONG A RETREATING DRYLINE. IF A
STORM DEVELOPS ACROSS THIS AREA, A VERY FAVORABLE ENVIRONMENT WILL
SUPPORT A RISK FOR TORNADOES, VERY LARGE HAIL, AND DAMAGING WIND
GUSTS.

Yeah. I don't know why some NEXRAD sites consistently fail to go into rapid scanning (SAILS) mode during severe weather events. KDGX (Jackson) is another repeat offender. Is it the pertinent NWS office just not thinking to do it, or a technical issue with the radar?

Also notable that my GR Level 3 shows KSGF is supposedly in SAILS mode in the bottom left corner, but a new scan only every ~6 minutes says otherwise.

IIRC, SAILS mode allows for faster scanning of the lowest tilt at the cost of higher tilts scanning slower. It's likely not turned on always because they have to focus on higher tilts as well.
