Do you think the low effective layer shear could be a possible hindrance? You don't necessarily need 3k SBCAPE in the Plains this time of year to produce major outbreaks. All it takes is a nicely placed jet, allowing for winds aloft and if you have a sufficient LLJ, favorable ventilation and strong low level shear. Perpendicular to the dryline meaning discrete mode (as we have here)
You need at least 1.5k+ at minimum to produce those type of events.
Well don't like it when Gabe uses such strong wording like this.
Looks like Reed isn't the only one using the term "Super Outbreak"Let the hype train begin![]()
Wow. Thats all I can say. Folks that is about as classic as it gets when it comes to synoptic scaling.
Tuesday looks like it could be one of those days in the Plains if the current idea with the trough ejection holds, that's what I'll say for now.Need an @andyhb post badly
Reminds me a lot of how last years May 17th system looked. Has pretty much the same “punching” mechanism as this one does.Tuesday looks like it could be one of those days in the Plains if the current idea with the trough ejection holds, that's what I'll say for now.
