Mesoscale dynamics in the right place at the right time pretty much.

Oh yeah, for sure, though with how many couplets are popping up on this one I'm curious if there's any boundaries locally enhancing things.

Couplet is finally broadened out but it’s going to continue to track over densely populated areas if it cycles. Moving from the northern DC suburbs into the southern/western Baltimore suburbs.

That would be a serious problem too. There aren’t many open areas between DC and Baltimore. That would take it close to the Baltimore airport.

Everyday in May was a slight risk or higher. A marginal 2% tornado risk area today. What bad could happen?

Pretty sure this is just your good ole June mesoscale shenanigans at play.

Gust front interaction with favorable critical angles as low level winds along what seem to be some sort of surface wind shear boundary could be what’s responsible.
