That was thought to be anomalously late in the season for the area, as well. I don't believe those caused any fatalities, though, despite their high impact for the region.

Yes Pampa lucked out somehow without fatalities, but the other big tornadoes that day (Kellerville, Allison, Hoover), on 6/5/1995 near Dougherty, and 6/2 (Friona, Dimmitt) didn't impact towns.

I thought the Friona one went through town and was rated F4 (stated to be such in a Weather Channel documentary), but information about those events has become so sketchy it's hard to be sure.

Much remains to be determined but...when was the last time Texas had a tornado officially rated in the violent category? Off the top of my head I can't think of any, so it might pre-date the switch to the EF-scale!

Edit: Jarrell? Or maybe there was an F4 in '99?
