That said, I am indeed genuinely shocked that they not only went EF4, but 190 EF4. That's a damn high windspeed estimate, and the tornado may have actually had a shot at EF5 had the 190 EF4 DI been truly well built.

This supercell produced at least one EF4, one EF3, one EF2 and one EF1. Was this supercell the one that impacted Somerset, or...?

I’m eating a big plate of crow on this one. I’m genuinely shocked. I’ve just never seen a home with that type of construction get a high end EF4 rating.

The only thing I can think of is maybe it had a unique design which allowed the walls to be anchored solidly despite the subfloor? I know there are special metal clips that can be used to “bypass” the subfloor and attach to the walls, improving the anchorage. I’m wondering if they were used here. I also wonder what “engineered wood” is? It’s just so weird to see a bolt-free subfloor lead to a high end EF4 rating.

Wow, the EF3 damage is west of Somerset, way before it even reached its max width or intensity. Wouldn’t be surprised at all for an EF4 rating.
