Severe WX Severe Threat 17-18 March 2021

Hey everyone
Currently at work, how has the event unfolded so far? Have we seen the worst of the tornado activity? I certainly hope so.
It’s been okay. we’ve had reports of EF2+ damage but the tornadoes have caused damage and are expected to continue overnight with the threat of strong-violent tornadoes. It seems like nighttime will be the main event

We may wind up with a couple EF4s, but I don't think we've seen any so far based on damage I've seen... unless the EF4 damage just totally missed all towns and buildings. I'd be surprised if we have had more than 1 or 2 EF3s so far.
i agree. i’d definitely think we will get a lot of EF3s and quite a few EF4s. i’d be surprised if we even get an EF5. so far the event definitely hasn’t Atmospheric Anti-Climax

Pretty hefty bowing segment down around Hattiesburg in MS. Looks like another batch getting it's act together. Edit: Nice line all the way up. Have to wonder how this behaves the next few hrs.....

Latest run of the HRRR has some nasty-looking stuff developing to the south of what is, presumably, that rain mass, which eventually overtakes the rainy stuff.

Tornado Warned Storm south of Springfield Missouri.

not sure i totally agree. i don't think we will get "quite a few EF4s". I think we get 0 or 1 EF4, and about ~5 EF3s tops. But we shall see.

Down to 64 here and now with a storm total of 4". It has literally been pouring since noon. Basement flood getting worse and yet more unorganized junk incoming, training over the same area. Definitely could have been worse here but, come on, could this rain have waited until we needed it in August instead of falling in one day?

you probably do have a point. but we don’t know yet. there’s also a moderate risk for tornadoes in another part of the country so the outbreak isn’t done yet

jeez. it’s very impressive. are their any towns in the path. i really hope not
It is headed in NNE direction heading directly for Springfield

All things considered, so far so good.

Dozens upon dozens of warnings but very few have been EF2+ based on damage reports so far, and the tornadoes have, for the most part, missed major towns. It seems like recent damage in Chilton County has been the worst of it so far in Alabama.

But that could still change as there are ongoing warnings and still quite a few hours left before the tornado threat diminishes.

People want to act like that guy is trolling but the reality is that really not much has happened back in western parts of the high risk area. In areas where storms have fired and have been rotating, they have not been dropping significant, long-track tornadoes. So far.

Not to say there are no problems or people should let their guard down, but if 12 hours ago someone had told you we'd have this many warnings but this little damage, and no violent long-trackers, I think we would all agree that is a good outcome.
Thank you. Glad nothing too major appears to have happened. I've had a pit in my stomach for about 13 hours now. Hopefully injury reports are minimal as well.
