Bingo. Verifying initialization is a big one people forget. Often, it doesn’t initialize properly but the same idea holds. The potential exists for some longer track supercells. Will we see them move through exact counties shown? Don’t know yet...

I can be very old-fashioned at times. Echo tops and lightning output...sometimes it's the best way.

"
Probability of Watch Issuance...20 percent

SUMMARY...Large hail may accompany small thunderstorm cluster as it
tracks across northeast MS into northwest AL over the next few
hours. At this time do not anticipate issuing a short-term severe
thunderstorm watch."

I’m talking to my students today (7th/8th grade) about weather safety.. most of them have no idea what to do. Several of them live in a mobile home park.. We gotta talk to these kids about this stuff.

This upsets me big time!!
I think every possible disaster and how to survive should be taught in school!! Especially tornadoes in Dixie Alley!!

Go away sunshine!!

I'm leaving Pelham (Shelby County) today, headed to Talladega County so I'll have access to a basement.
Looks like if anything happens in that area, it will likely be this evening, schools are closing at 11:30.

north Mississippi storm almost looks to have taken a turn SE in the last couple updates. Wonder if it’s riding the warm front? Also wonder what effect that boundary running NE into it will have

The university that I am at for law school will say that there is the possibility of strong tornadoes today, and in the same email/post say that they expect normal campus operations.
We’re continuing normal operations at UA. I’m happy because I lecture this afternoon and don’t wanna have to remake this class. Plus, it’s more sturdy than the cardboard box apartments they have around campus.
