Bender, I noticed most cave entrances I've are found are directly under a thin sandstone layer called the Hartselle sandstone. Above it is several hundred feet of Bangor limestone and below the sandstone is the gasper formation. Is this a Hotspot of caves I'm this area in madison county alabama or other regions in the vicinity? Would it be worthwhile to follow the sandstone line and hike along the mountain to expect more caves? Any other advice you can give me on where caves could be most likely to be exposed to the surface?
