This current? Cause if so, what I thought was a very cold rain is a crap ton of ice.
I think it may start that way and quickly be washed out. Fingers crossed. It's in the 70s in SW GA and the panhandle, the blowtorch is lit up. This is the fight - and I think the 850 is bringing a gun to a knife fight - I expect it to win.I think the east side of Atlanta may get a surprise, and not the good kind. Temperatures are hovering right around freezing and they were predicted to be above by now.
When do you think the potential for some bursts of snow will occur?Looking at the hrrr with temps and rain, I don’t see how we can escape some icy roads down into central Alabama/Birmingham later this evening. The measurable rain will be gone but roads and especially bridges won’t be dry. Also I still think there will be a few bursts of snow.
I know you are hoping, but I frankly don't see it - the air behind this is dry as a bone. I'm actually hoping it is enough to quickly dry the roads, and think it may be. There's not going to be much significant on the back side of this, unless it comes in after this from the NW, and that usually doesn't amount to much. (Edit - if reading this for the first time now, there's some mist/fog/yuck coming as the temp falls. Yuck.)When do you think the potential for some bursts of snow will occur?
Other than run-off spots, I cannot tell you how many times I've seen the wind come in and dry off the roads after events like this one.I know you are hoping, but I frankly don't see it - the air behind this is dry as a bone. This cold air is gonna wring out all the moisture it can.We have some tiny light snowflakes here now.
Yes it will but it’s not likely we will see any accumulating snow just maybe a dusting in some areas. The meso low that has formed in east central alabama will create some lift on the west side as it moves northeast and squeeze out any moisture that is picked up from the ice and snow pack. This cold air is gonna wring out all the moisture it can.
Hey BW, what site is those model graphics off of please?Morning all. I took the warm nose period as time to sleep in. Flooding up here in the wolf den currently - creek is nearly out of it's banks, and may well be headed there.
Wedge in full effect, and a ton of moisture incoming. ATL and east may be in big trouble. 850 nose will move east with the moisture, but will it be enough to overcome the wedge as it gets pinched from the west too? Going to be a close one, and I expect chicanery.
