January 23-25th Winter Wx

Wasn’t really that bad here. Power went off briefly once. Looks like precip is about over. It had been down to 28 earlier but it warmed to just below freezing which has been the temp for a while. Concrete surfaces aren’t slick. Tree branches coated with ice.

My yard is under water and it is still pouring rain here. Once that cold front comes through later today, we will join the ice club. As long as the power holds, I don't care about being stuck so much, but hypothermia doesn't sound fun. (No, we don't have secondary heating or a generator. Can't afford it. Main reason I hate winter wx.)
My area is the same. It's insane the amount of precip. that we have had, so far. I am worried about the colder air mass filtering in faster than was anticipated.

If all of this that has fallen - and is still falling - were frozen, the county would have been FUBAR for over a week.

Morning Update: I've had more of a switch over to rain which is keeping the total ice at bay for me at the moment. Limbs have ice on them. Still in the Ice Storm Warning with one inch of ice expected so we'll see how the rest of it plays out. Regardless, every wet spot is gonna freeze over later this evening and tonight. It will still be an ice storm. Power has remained on so far

Cold air will filter in rather quickly behind the front, so freezing may come sooner than one might expect.

188k people are without power in Nashville this morning-- NES believes it may be a multi-day outage for some areas. My lights in M'Boro flashed once last night, but I don't know how things will fare once the secondary sleet/snow comes in on the back end of the system. Some trees sagging and the roads are a slush due to the continuous rain we've been getting. Really thinking about those without power up in Nashville. Happy Birthday to me.

Wind has already shifted to the nw at Bham, maybe that’s some convective contamination doing that but also the her shows the front right on top of us…I think the cold air is already beginning to spill in
Yep.. noticed that around an hour ago.

Morning all. I took the warm nose period as time to sleep in. Flooding up here in the wolf den currently - creek is nearly out of it's banks, and may well be headed there.

Wedge in full effect, and a ton of moisture incoming. ATL and east may be in big trouble. 850 nose will move east with the moisture, but will it be enough to overcome the wedge as it gets pinched from the west too? Going to be a close one, and I expect chicanery.

We could get a flash freeze situation here across Monroe County and areas that have had more rain thus far than ice totals in Northeast MS. I see NWS Birmingham is mentioning this as well for their CWA
