January 23-25th Winter Wx

Half time report please. I'm a weather enthusiast and not as knowledgeable on the subject as most of you but so far how is this storm playing out relative to predictions in yall's opinons and what's next ? I'm in Madison, Ms and we've been having light rain and 35 degrees for abot 4 hours now.
Not really expecting much your way until well into the night, through Sunday morning.

I know we're focused on the ice but if these hi-res runs are true Cincinnati is going to have record 24 hour snow totals. I moved from Cleveland to get away from this stuff

i'm trying not to get too excited til the first flakes start flying and i can get a better real-time grip on the situation. with that said, most of the 18z guidance favors the i-71 corridor for some of the highest snow totals. ILN seems to agree:

the signs are certainly there that this could be historic for the cincinnati area.

I will say the temp near my house has dropped from 41 to 36, and it seems to be dropping rather quickly as the precip starts to move in.

Yep. I'm worried it's going to get much colder than expected and we're going to have a problem.

Latest mesoanalysis shows the freezing line being almost stationary, maybe even advancing a little bit in Alabama compared to 2 hours ago. It should start retreating northwestward as WAA streams in, but it may be more stubborn than modelled.

What are the things that would be required for the totals to max out? What about underperform?

I saw Brandon Copic is planning on covering inbetween the 75 and 71 cooridor.

Quick update - check out the wedge. Magenta is air temp 32 line, blue is 32 degree wet bulb, and green is 32 degree dewpoint. Notice how the dewpoint line takes a nose dive in east AL. Drier air from the high being pushed in and meeting the moisture, which will cause evap cooling. A fascinating evening for weather nerds.
