January 23-25th Winter Wx

Woke up an hour ago to a light dusting and heavy flurries. Now it's a bit more than flurries and seems to be snowing harder. The snow cover on the deck table is getting thicker. We had not planned on getting off this hill today anyway, so it's kind of cool to see, I guess.

30 here, and my deck is icy, but the concrete driveway has dried out nicely. Hopefully the roads will be the same.

One of my buddies in Nashville without power has a generator and a fire place and his house still got down to 50 degrees last night. The road outside his house is blocked by downed trees too. Pretty terrified of what we're going to hear coming out of Tennessee and Mississippi today.

Alabama was saved by the warm nose. They had us under the gun initially before changing it (models changed).

Still hundreds of thousands of people without power from eastern TX to western TN. Worried about those in NW MS and western TN specifically, as wind chills may go well below zero tonight.

Not to derail, but I love the cherrypicked data and the blue arrows that mean pretty much nothing in this tweet. There's mountains of primary literature and data showing that anthropogenic climate change is undeniable at this point, and there's even primary literature showing that the oscillatory nature of the Sun's power output (roughly 1361 W/m2 right now but consistently oscillating) has pretty much zero contribution to the general warming trend. "Entering into a mini ice age?" What in the world does this individual even mean by that?

This tweet is garbage. I'm not going to hold my tongue on it either. Just because it gets cold during the winter still in North America doesn't mean climate change is a hoax. If anyone wants to talk to me about this, DMs would be the best place.
Especially coming from noted climatologist..*looks at handle*…FinanceLancelot haha

looks like we ended up with 6.9" at DCA (not sure if that's including accumulating sleet or not since I'm not really sure exactly when it changed over yesterday)

Whole ground frozen solid with just several patches of a light dusting of snow.
