Well, went ahead and made the thread. A lot of populated areas in the target zone today.
Are you kidding me?!Is this legit?
lol wut.Is this legit?
I’m actually starting to get a bit nervous.A Tornado Watch is out for the Austin and Houston areas:
Storm Prediction Center Tornado Watch 231
Severe weather, tornado, thunderstorm, fire weather, storm report, tornado watch, severe thunderstorm watch, mesoscale discussion, convective outlook products from the Storm Prediction Center.www.spc.noaa.gov
The associated tornado probabilities are 70/50.
Yeah, if they can circle around those showers, there could be trouble. I’m a bit nervous for how today goes. It’s starting to clear around Cypress right now.Apologies for this very IMBY post:
While considering the usual caveats that come with taking simulated reflectivity at face value, several HRRR runs have tried to bring one or more intense storms through Brazos County around noon. Now, from the looks of things, those storms would have to consolidate out of the mass of showers I've circled in the attached screenshot. Whether that actually happens remains TBD.
We've still got finals going on (at A&M), and many of the remaining students' families are coming to help kids move out for the summer. I was talking with a meteorology professor yesterday, and in the middle of our meeting, TAMU admin. called him to get his thoughts on today's risk. As long as they keep actual meteorologists' input well into consideration, I trust that they'll make the correct decisions regarding student safety as the need arises. However, all these people that'll be out on the road trying to get home makes me nervous.View attachment 40995
Just changed it.Just a heads up, the title is off by a day. Today is May 6th
Serious Q: People still watch the Weather Channel? Also, TWC continues to infuriate me. They are saying Cypress should get no storms despite being right on the edge of the 10% hatched. I swear they love to downplay the forecast.
I just use their website to check the forecast. I don’t watch it anymore. It’s legit became an absolute crap show.Serious Q: People still watch the Weather Channel?
With all the live streams, high resolution radar and twitter/social media, TWC seems like such a relic. Like most of broadcast media.
The good news is that Reed isn't using the "Outbreak" wordAlso, TWC continues to infuriate me. They are saying Cypress should get no storms despite being right on the edge of the 10% hatched. I swear they love to downplay the forecast.
