Probably the best source they had as radar coverage over Perryton is abysmal, about the best they can do is 8,500' up from either Amarillo or Dodge City, and velocity is range-folded from both. Unfortunately the initial tornado warning went out just a few minutes ahead of time.

That was weird...seems the supercell went right from producing a "traditional" mesocylonic tornado over the town, to the twin landspouts. Better low-level radar coverage would really, really help here, I bet the evolution would be fascinating to see. This is the kind of thing DoW was made for.

Structural damage in Perryton on Brian Emfinger's stream...hard to tell how bad, though (Edit: He's got the drone up, doesn't look too bad by tornado standards, but still enough to kill someone in one of those mobile homes). I think his stream was the only reason the warning went out.

Not to detract from the main event, but there’s seems to be some sort of lake effect tornado event unfolding near Detroit and Toledo. Was a TDS at Detroit Beach, MI earlier.
