That’s not the reasoning the orange man gave.

It isn't? From your link: On July 23, the Trump administration announced that it is revoking the Obama-era housing regulation, and in a press release, the HUD Secretary Ben Carson said that implementation had proven to be “to be complicated, costly, and ineffective." It sounds exactly like the same reasons to me. Or are you speaking solely on his tweet?

I think he's referencing the tweet. Given the 1973 lawsuit about rejecting black tenants on Trump owned property, it can come off discriminatory to some. He didn't mention race but if you're predisposed to having that opinion of him then you could interpret it being about segregation of class or color or whatever. It's ambiguous enough, but he should've conveyed the objective of the order better.

See, I don't think it was ambiguous at all.

Again, there were major issues with the add-on that the Obama administration rolled out. Trump's tweet, however, doesn't reference any of that.

Exactly. Carson isn’t the Orange man, and Trump often does things for different reasons than given by his administration

We already have laws that eliminated segregation and we already have Fair Lending Laws. See here... https://www.fdic.gov/regulations/compliance/manual/4/iv-1.1.pdf What Obama did was unnecessary, expensive, and burdensome on communities to implement. This needed to be rescinded. Not everything orange man does is wrong.

President George W. Bush, often accused of being inarticulate, never had this issue. Trump can correctly repeal a policy while doing so for all the wrong reasons. Everyone must decide whether or not they're comfortable with policy wins predicated on all the wrong reasons and justifications.

Personally, I'm the type who finds the belated fig leafs offered to justify a sudden Trump policy measure to be both incredible and insulting. Just like I find William Barr to be one of the most dishonest people to ever serve as Attorney General.

To each their own. I'd rather win the right way once than win the wrong way 25 times. Again, personal preference, a really good man drilled that idea into my head before he died when I was 8. He wasn't perfect, but if one thing he was careful of it was being a hypocrite.

If winning were everything, I'm confident I wouldn't be here expressing my thoughts right now. Trump doesn't do anything because he thinks it is right. He does it because he wants votes or personal glorification -- I'm not naive -- I know how the game is played. If I wanted to vote for a long-time friend and admirer of William Jefferson Clinton, outside of Donald Trump, I'd vote for Joe Biden. At least he's honest about who he is and what he represents.

I believe Trump to be so corrupt and unfit that he is undeserving of any respect or doubt-giving because he is absolutely irredeemable on this earth. "Ye shall know them by their fruits." I really don't think I should argue with God. I tried that in my youth and I always lost.

I don't think you believe Trump's inconsistent and laughable justifications, Arcadia. I think you're rightfully fearful and upset about the Democrat's plans for America. Me too. But Trump ain't the panacea nor is anyone like him. He's accelerationist who helped bring us to where we are today. He should be mocked, ridiculed, and exiled -- not defended or justified. Trump is a cancerous tumor that long ago should've been excised by the few remaining sane members of the GOP. That he wasn't speaks volumes about the current state of the Party and why I won't cry when it is soundly defeated in November. Oh well. I tried to warn people.

What an absolutely toe curling interview of Trump on HBO’s Axios TV. I can’t help but to draw comparisons to Bush’s flyover of New Orleans after Katrina or his “you’re doing a great job, Brownie” as the biggest humanitarian crisis in US history unfolded. Or, Obama’s “redline” comment that seemed to be drawn then subsequently erased as hundreds if not thousands of innocent civilians were gassed to death by the Syrian government with little to no action taken.

There seems to be a disconnect from reality. “It is what it is” to 1,000 deaths per day? Yikes. This is somehow leagues worse.

The left is doing everything possible to hand this election to Trump on a silver platter, and we keep getting crap like this from him.

I still firmly believe that the left could run a convicted serial killer as their candidate this election and they'd win.

So I watched the clip. There was no “it is what it is” quote about 1,000 deaths a day, not in the clip posted. Plenty of people are making the same point that Trump was making and plenty making the point that the interviewer was making. So, to me, I have no idea how this is an example of Trump doing anything like what you’ve compared it to as far as Bush and Obama, except for their detractors grappling for something to criticize. Of all the media hypocrisy in coverage of the pandemic and everything else I don’t see really how this bothers anyone one bit, what Trump was saying in the clip posted.

The left doesn’t believe that or they wouldn’t have abandoned the primary process and thrown all their weight behind Biden before the SC primary.

Holy bananas...
I was a bit suspicious that was a deep-fake or something but sure enough, it's legit.

My point being, this event will be how the Trump presidency will be remembered. Detached from reality with no leadership in a time when we needed it.

By the way, here you go:

Biden was a lock for the nomination - there was no reason to continue with the primaries. The left just doesn't want a repeat of the last election, so they aren't taking anything for granted this time. They will continue the push to register new voters and make sure people actually vote (whether that's encouraging them to vote by mail or delivering them to the polls). It has very little to do with Biden, it's almost completely anti-Trump.

I do think the media has a hand in ridiculously playing soft ball with Cuomo while he bungled the nursing home situation in NY resulting in thousands of needless deaths. He also purposefully obfuscated along with his health department crony the reason why they did it and the true numbers of nursing home COVID deaths. That’s something to be outraged about as well.

The point of the clip shows how detached from reality he is. Much like the several times he said it’ll all just go away. Really?

Reality?
The “reality” is a damned if you do damned if you don’t situation. IMHO it would’ve of been uncalled for and unjustified move for the federal government to force a nationwide shutdown. My gut feeling is if that was done we would be operating under a totally different narrative but guess what, it would in no way be reflected as a good decision by Trump. That’s the reality. Especially watching the entire quote in context and then the interviewers opinion on it. He got what he wanted.

Who said anything about a nationwide shut down?
You didn’t. It’s just part of the nationwide conversation on the government and Trump response or “handling” or “mishandling” the virus outbreak...So I used it as an example in this conversation.

For me, I'm bothered by Trump's ineptitude and/or purposeful disregard for data that's simple and fair to use as an indicator of outbreak severity such as /cases per 1m people/. I'm also bothered that he wants to focus on very specific datasets such as /deaths per 25k infections/ which are "good numbers" compared to the rest of the world but doesn't give good context to the situation as a whole. I need to watch the whole interview for more context though.

As far as Trump claiming this is "under control" - that's delusional, I don't know how else to say it. I suppose "under control" depends on the metric you use and we can all see what metric Trump wants us to use, only those that make him look good.

There’s just so many simple things Trump could’ve done, from advising AND actually wearing a face covering himself, to issuing directives to lockdown nursing homes where 40-50% of deaths occurred, to using federal powers to mass manufacture rapid testing/PPE/other medical supplies when it started spreading like wildfire in Europe and Asia . He could’ve taken a lead seeing what was coming and lead a united response outside of outright national lockdowns. But hindsight is always 20/20.
