Severe WX April 11th-13th, 2020 Severe Weather Threat

Damage in that area sounds major, and I’m hearing reports of homes leveled, and also an apartment complex and a school destroyed.
I haven't heard those reports yet, however I wouldn't doubt it. I haven't spoken with the EM there. They did submit a DART request, which was answered by several counties.

My mistake, it was an apartment complex NEAR a middle school that was reportedly destroyed, not the school itself. I read too fast.

This is..... Interesting

Hey @Kory or anyone else that can answer, why are we not getting the any strong tornadoes here in south Alabama? Line just moved through and it’s pretty rough with winds but what has mitigated the tornado threat down this way?

Nice tight circulation west of Cartersville, GA.
Edit Meh not as impressive on kffc as khsv.

Side note: wind really picking up here outside Boone, NC. Got some house shaking gusts.

I haven’t really looked at anything in the past hour but probably a combination of winds starting to veer and storm scale interferences.

TOR for Bartow and Cherokee Counties in GA
That thing looks mean. That Cartersville to Canton zone seems to always get cells rotating.

NWS MOB mentioned that the winds veered a little sooner than models were forecasting, and that mitigated the tornado threat somewhat. And the storm mode was mostly linear. Some isolated storms did try to develop ahead of the line, but couldn't really get going.

Spann mentioned this tonight. He couldn't figure that out either.

Final line out of Mississippi is passing here. Be warned, it packs a punch - had some very high wind gusts with it and still extremely windy behind it. Power is flickering; I could absolutely still see a few trees coming down with it before it finally dies. Though it looks like its death will be prolonged as it looks a lot healthier now than it did crossing the state line

Ok wow, have heard multiple tree branches snap. These are some nasty winds coming across west AL.

Super novice person here - I am located just barely south of ATL. Is it possible that we may "shoot the gap' between the severe weather north of Atlanta, and the severe thunderstorms south of Atlanta? From watching the track of the storms it looks very possible - but are we expecting a re-development over the next hour or two? I feel blessed if this is what I am seeing - but don't want to count my chickens before they hatch.

Parameters rapidly drop off behind the line(s) in Georgia so doubt there will be any severe behind it once that mass passes, though there are showers and very gusty winds possibly still to come
