January 23-25th Winter Wx

I reckon they probably meant to insinuate hovering around, but slightly above freezing? Still, Monroe is very much at risk for ice accumulations.
Yeah, but I was more caught off guard by the fact it would seem to discourage ice accumulations. Very confusing either way

Here's a cool view right now (time sensitive - showed visible satellite with clouds moving different directions at height when posted)

I'm still at 27 here not too far from you. It has only went up one degree since 7 am.
Up to 41 in Birmingham now. I think we're just going to be right at the dividing line for a while - that arctic high is kicking enough cold down from the NW and all that sleet to keep us colder. Hopefully it will push on north here soon.

Super quiet, cold, and uneventful here. Definitely going to start warming up before the precipitation arrives. Radar showed some light frozen precipitation earlier but the road in front of the house looks fine at the moment... settling in for a rainy evening hopefully

Yep, here comes the blowtorch. The winds are coming off that high now behind the mountains, so wedging will start pinching it from the other side. Up to 35 here now. Up 2 degrees in 15 minutes or so. 60s at the beach, and up to 53 in Montgomery.

The big question now for central Alabama, is can we squeeze out enough moisture to give a little dusting to some areas here, and how widespread icing will be with all the lingering moisture from rain over a few days for when temps drop a bunch Sunday night into Monday morning.

15Z RAP shows spotty light sleet/snow here for about 5-6 hours

We've had a lot of cloud breaks here near Montgomery, which has helped. At one point this morning, it was mostly sunny at my house.

Temps dropping more quickly than expected here with light to moderate rain. Already down to 34.5F on my PWS. Could see freezing temps in a few hours. Looks like some heavier rainfall coming - hoping not much precip later this afternoon if temps do get below freezing. The main ice event is supposed to start in the early morning hours.
