it’s just computers guessing at precip type. it’s never been particularly accurate. It's interesting. On radar Memphis is firmly in snow, but my friends there are reporting it's been sleeting the whole time.
How’s that “nothing but rain” prediction looking? Definitely not just rain in Monrovia.Made it from Meridianville to the E-911 Center off Oakwood. No sweat. Some of the roads were still warm showing puddles. Oakwood was pretty slick, but passable. I hear the parkway in Huntsville, is of course, rough at the overpasses. Hope the rain starts around 1.
I've been using the PWS system - includes metars. Cheezy interface, but ground truth.Anyone have any observation maps? Curious to see what this predicted warm nose is up to

Knock that noise off, you're messing with the Blountwolf Ice Shield.me @ the warm nose right now
Seeing as you don’t contribute anything except in the political forum, I don’t expect you to know much about a prediction concerning weather. Come back when the inch of rain starts this afternoon. How’s that “nothing but rain” prediction looking? Definitely not just rain in Monrovia.
yeah, uh a changeover to rain this afternoon and tonight has been forecasted.Seeing as you don’t contribute anything except in the political forum, I don’t expect you to know much about a prediction concerning weather. Come back when the inch of rain starts this afternoon.
I do not know where you are seeing this?FFC has dropped accumulation totals and percentages in the ATL metro. Looks like the wedge will stop right around the perimeter of I-285. NE GA and Upstate SC still looking at a crippling ice storm. Travel on I-85 from Charlotte to Atlanta will be difficult to impossible throughout the next couple days.
I reckon they probably meant to insinuate hovering around, but slightly above freezing? Still, Monroe is very much at risk for ice accumulations.I came across this very interesting and questionable statement from MEG discussion concerning freezing rain for my area before bed last night:
"On the other end of the state, near the
Alabama border, temperatures hovering around freezing will
discourage the accumulation of ice. In particular, Monroe County
may only see a light glaze of ice."
I don't know, but I was taught temperatures around freezing usually promotes more wintry accumulations
I do not know where you are seeing this?

Since when is a prediction on talkweather a sin that deserves trolling? I have disagreed with the local TV talking heads, who love nothing more than to add their flavor of the week to the forecast, but I’ve never berated a regular here for theirs, even if it was just completely Atmospheric Anti-Climax. Now, feel free to continue your and your friends diatribe, but I’m done responding.yeah, uh a changeover to rain this afternoon and tonight has been forecasted.
again, though, what about your nothing but rain prediction? you whiffed. since you wanted to declare it a forecast Forecasted Convective Amplification Deficiency 4 days in advance of the storm, what say you now that YOUR forecast Atmospheric Anti-Climax when the storm, ya know, actually arrived?
