storm is ramping up on a path just south of florence proper. looks to hit muscle shoals head on.
Brett Adair reports cool outflow forward of the mesocyclone. At the least, that should delay tornado development (at least unless/until the meso starts pulling in the outflow boundary...).
 
Hodos are beginning to improve over parts of Mississippi and Tennessee. Correlates with a modest increase in low-level SRH across the same area. Expect this to continue and migrate eastward.

Northwestern Madison County in north central Alabama...
Limestone County in north central Alabama...
Southeastern Lauderdale County in northwestern Alabama...
East central Colbert County in northwestern Alabama...
Northeastern Lawrence County in northwestern Alabama...

* Until 600 PM CDT.

* At 456 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Sheffield,
moving east at 45 mph. This storm has previous history of
producing golfball size hail.

HAZARD...Golf ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail
damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect
wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
Madison, Cartwright, Northwest Alabama Regional Airport, French
Mill, Coxey, Florence, Oakland, Harvest, Tuscumbia, and Killen.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside
should move immediately to shelter inside a strong building. Stay
away from windows.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM CDT for north
central, northeastern and northwestern Alabama...and Middle
Tennessee.
