Severe Weather Threat May 17-19, 2025

Moving ever closer to the edge of the instability axis. Probably going to be done before too long; in an increasingly stable environment, even the insane helicity values won't be enough to keep it going once it begins to lose inflow. Wouldn't count it out for now, but losing the best environment, the meso is messy right now

I think it’s time I call it a night. What a wild sequence these past 2 days and we’re only half way. Yall stay safe and have a goodnight.

Yea, thankfully based on some footage and what I’m hearing, the tornado indeed missed the town, at least the core did.

Most houses actually turned out ok, unless the radar pulled the biggest prank ever with how high and intense the debris ball was, the brunt of the tornado definitely missed. Thank goodness.

Plotted a straight line from Luka, KS to where the storm is now, and here are some potential structures that were in the path.

Basically just some oil wells and farmsteads.

A power substation or maybe just irrigation sprinklers? I hope this feed yard got missed because it has about a million cows

I've reach the image limit but the only thing left was another few farmsteads and a cell tower. I honestly can't believe how lucky we got with the two tornadoes this cell produced not hitting anything. Definitely reminds me of May 24, 2011 with the strength of those beasts.
