That was some gnarly motion.

A follow up: It seems this was because of copyright issues with some photos. It's not a good sign when a broadcast met says "We have pictures" from Somerset, but then says, "we're going to hold off" until his control room sorts out what they can and cannot show on air.
Not to derail. Depends on the NWS office. Each office may have their own criteria for issuing TOR Emergencies (Officially, I have no idea, but it makes sense they would). What would the reason be, then? Or is it just not known at this time?
Don't you even dare...Ummm....

This is not only stupidly wrong, but inappropriate at this time.Oh nevermind, apparently Jackson NWS and other KY offices are understaffed due to the incredibly dumb Trump cuts and lack someone with authority (shift supervisor) to make the call on TOR-Es
Actually it isn't. NWS Jackson is one of the understaffed offices and it is directly because of the Trump cuts. The second part is speculation, but the first part is reality. Frankly, it's not inappropriate either when it is affecting an ongoing major severe weather event. This is not only stupidly wrong, but inappropriate at this time.
Is that the same tornado from earlier or is it a different tornado?I think Manchester got hit head on……
I don't think there's a tornado down on that yet. The lower CC is colocated with lower reflectivity so I wouldn't call that a TDS.I think Manchester got hit head on……

Hard to tell honestly, structure looks different. I can’t confirm a yes or no.Is that the same tornado from earlier or is it a different tornado?
What I was thinking. Hard to tell.I don't think there's a tornado down on that yet. The lower CC is colocated with lower reflectivity so I wouldn't call that a TDS.
And that does happen with hospitals. I agree. I just think we get into this, “oh mass casualty event means it’s soooooo bad” mentality. When really all it means is that the locations resources could be overwhelmed. They may have 6 ambulances in the county, and people still fall over with medical emergencies outside of the tornado. I just think it should be used with a fair amount of caution. I’ll step off my soap box.MCIs can also be declared as a precaution, in expectation of a large influx of patients with critical injuries, even if there's no confirmed knowledge of how many or how severe the injuries may be. This can be an especially important decision in smaller hospitals.
