It did a good job showing the uptick in activity after dark, so I wouldn't doubt it.I know it's nowcast mode, but the past several HRRR runs have predicted this lull, but shows a ramp-up of activity soon (LLJ maybe?).

Any thoughts on the storms near Opelika, AL? I'm visting in GA just over the border.
Came across this post just now, kinda interesting seeing a visual of all the tornado warnings from last night and today (up to this being posted on X of course) combined. Last night was crazy in SE MO/NE AR, to make an understatement.

Is that a derecho?Everything on this QLCS segment is spinning. The 4 largest segments have visible mesocyclones at higher tilts.

These are basically just broken up cells and line segments, winds aren't quite strong enough to qualify as severe, though the mesos are certainly something. Is that a derecho?
Agreed, I'm closely watching the convection starting to develop here. The HRRR has been on top of this and wants to explode those into supercells in the next hour or two.Definitely a lot of potential for trouble down here in the Panhandle and AL/GA Coastal Plain.

Can't recall if this was shared on here, but this lady on Facebook has a couple great videos of the Tuckerman, AR tornado last night. Listen to that roar! Reed Timmer shared it on his Facebook page, saying that the Bakersfield tornado was one of the loudest roars he's heard.
We'll see what they come up with for the rating eventually, but the damage sure looks extreme (I'm no professional surveyor though).Same tornado that caused extreme damage in Diaz, AR. That thing definitely had EF5 strength.
