Thermals look colder on the NAM. So far it looks like it wants to paste a bomb over the Deep South. If we can’t get a good winter storm out of this look I don’t know what to say.

Latest GFS run still paints snow over the northern half of Alabama. Gonna be a close close call for those in between hwy 278 and I-20

Yup. Trend today has been colder. Which makes sense with the models picking up the snow pack to our north

I'm sending this out to my weather text subscribers currently: "MS/AL: Potential significant winter storm Thurs night thru Friday. All precip types (snow/sleet/freezing rain) likely. Accumulations possible"

I started the weather texts back in September 2010 just out of a small light bulb idea I had because having a speech impediment due to Cerebral Palsy put a damper on my ability to verbally tell people the weather. I was in 10th grade at the time if I remember right and 16 years old. I just thought it would last 2 weeks and fade out. I started out with roughly 20 people. To date, it's still going strong with over 200 subscribers with majority in North MS with a handful from California to Georgia and in between.

Im trying to figure out a legit best case scenario for central Alabama and my guesses will be the ukmets solution of 6 inches for my area.

If we can stay snow for the entire duration of the low pressure passing through we could get some serious snowfall totals. Man the only time I can remember half a foot of snow was 2017.

Maybe February 2015? That's the last big snow North MS into AL had. I got 8 inches from it.

Ah yeah! I forgot about that one. I don't think that had but 2 inches for me but I think you went a bit more north and it was a considerable amount more. For central Alabama it's a bit rarer than north Mississippi/ north Alabama like where your at.
