2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season

FIRST POST OF 2025 ON .COM (if we're going by UTC)

As of January 1, 2025, 00:00 UTC, if a tropical storm were to be named in the Atlantic basin, it would be called Andrea. The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) maintains six rotating lists of names for Atlantic tropical storms, reused every six years. The 2025 list begins with Andrea, followed by Barry, Chantal, Dexter, and so on.

The name Tony is also on the WMO’s list but was scheduled for use in 2024, following Sara. Since the 2024 season has concluded, the naming sequence has reset for 2025, starting again with Andrea.

It’s important to note that the Atlantic hurricane season officially runs from June 1 to November 30 each year. However, storms can occasionally form outside of this period. If a storm were to develop now, it would take the first name from the 2025 list, which is Andrea.

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the National Hurricane Center (NHC) use GMT (Greenwich Mean Time), also known as UTC (Coordinated Universal Time), as the standard time zone for naming tropical storms and recording their activity.

This ensures a consistent global standard, regardless of the time zone where the storm originates or is tracked. So at 00:00 GMT on January 1, 2025, the storm would be named based on the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season list, starting with Andrea, even if the local time in the storm’s location is different.

Time zones like EST are not used for official storm naming.

WELCOME ALL, TO THE ONE AND ONLY 2025 ATLANTIC HURRICANE SEASON!!

What lands will be impacted? How many named storms will there be? How many hurricanes? How many majors? Will old records get broken?

Find out starting in 6 months.

Since it is now January 1st, 2025 in UTC time, I will be making my January cyclone prediction.

16 Named Storms
8 Hurricanes
4 Major Hurricanes

ACE index between 130-175.

I have decided to go lower this prediction due to the timing of the season being six months out still. The spring barrier is a long ways away from being past as of now.

I have low confidence in this prediction.

Numerology also flagged Melissa and Lorenzo

They said look for names that vibrate with 3, 6 and 9 since it's a 9 year

Alright bro

I've gone through this thread:

and according to numerology it's disagreeing with their picks. I'll post why in a moment.

This is only my January prediction. I don’t want to go all 20+ NS so early on.

Have you noticed the 5 year marks of each decade (Ex: 1985, 1995, 2005 and 2015) have had interesting things occur?

Key Insights

  1. 25 Numerology Landfall Dates:
    • Humberto (September 7, 2025), Imelda (September 12, 2025), Melissa (October 11, 2025), and Karen (September 25, 2025) align strongly with 25 patterns.
    • These storms are top candidates for destructive landfalls, with Humberto and Melissa likely being the most catastrophic.
  2. Lulls and Spikes:
    • Lull: Early July (after Barry), early August (Dexter’s weak presence).
    • Spike: Late August to mid-September (Humberto, Imelda).
    • Secondary Spike: Late September to mid-October (Melissa, Lorenzo).
  3. Universal Year 9 Amplification:
    • Hurricanes with strong destructive or transformational potential (e.g., Melissa, Imelda) benefit significantly from Year 9 resonance.
    • Stable or weak storms (e.g., Andrea, Jerry) show minimal resonance, staying low-intensity.
This table encapsulates the entire season’s potential from a numerological and structural perspective.

2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season Summary:

  • Named Storms (NS): 19
  • Hurricanes (H): 11
  • Major Hurricanes (MH): 5
  • Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE): ~195 units

Reasoning Behind the Metrics:

  1. Named Storms (19):
    • The season is expected to be slightly hyperactive due to favorable environmental conditions during peak months (August-October) and numerological amplification (Universal Year 9).
    • Strong spikes in activity during late August-September (Humberto, Imelda, Gabrielle) and October (Melissa, Lorenzo) contribute to the count.
  2. Hurricanes (11):
    • A higher proportion of storms transition into hurricanes compared to average seasons, owing to warm SSTs and reduced shear during peaks.
    • Notable intensifications include Humberto, Melissa, and Imelda, driving up the hurricane count.
  3. Major Hurricanes (5):
    • Major hurricane candidates like Melissa, Humberto, and Imelda align strongly with numerological and environmental triggers.
    • Their catastrophic potential is enhanced by 25 synergies (significant dates) and resonance with Year 9.
  4. ACE (~195):
    • Sustained activity from storms like Melissa, Humberto, and Lorenzo contributes significantly to ACE.
    • Long-lived systems (e.g., Melissa) and multiple strong hurricanes result in above-average ACE, approaching hyperactive thresholds.

Comparison to Historical Seasons:

  • Analog Years: 2004, 2005, 2017.
  • These years shared similar environmental conditions, elevated storm counts, and significant landfall impacts, making them comparable to 2025.
The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season will likely be remembered as impactful and slightly hyperactive, with a mix of catastrophic landfalls and quieter periods.

NHC is changing the issue criteria for Potential Tropical Cyclones in the Atlantic, Eastern Pacific and Central Pacific.

Before, the NHC and CPHC had the option to begin issuing advisories on disturbances that would potentially threaten land within 48 hours. Now that has changed. Now the NHC and CPHC can begin issuing advisories on disturbances as PTC up to 72 hours if the system is threatening land.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also the NHC and CPHC are extending the 64-kt wind radius forecast issuance on tropical cyclones from 2 days (48 hours) to 3 days (72 hours)
