Y'all, the bugs didn't die!!!!!

Since December and January lasted for 2 years, you'd think some types of bug populations would have died off or slow down.
People are even spotting mosquitos in North AL since it's gotten warm!!!

Yep, I saw a mosquito yesterday.

My work place is infested with red wasps. This is a very old building and there is a nest inside one of the walls and about once or twice a day one will find his way out of a vent or some sort of opening and start flying around. They are apparently insulated just enough to not die off. When it is really cold, they might escape through a vent then just fall to the floor but they're alive. I came in one morning when it was single digits and saw a wasp on a desk.

Been having to close the screen door on my balcony now :( bug got in yesterday. Me and my cat track down and kill all bugs inside. I hate'm! I leave spiders alone so they can help.
 
I know one thing it didn't touch in Pascagoula, MS...sand gnats. I certainly would not trade mosquitos for sand gnats. Man I hate those things.
 
Any bug with wings should be extermined. The flying cockroaches in Louisiana might be right behind my hatred of scorpions. When I had family out in West Texas, those suckers would crawl into shoes and lie in wait....

I've spent probably 8 weeks total working out in West Texas at times, and somehow I avoided those things. Or at least never knew I was dealing with them.

Right before I hit Post Reply I realized I think you meant scorpions in West Texas, not flying cockroaches, heh. Yes, I remember seeing quite a few of those things. They didn't bother me as much as the rattlesnakes though. I remember stopping when a big one was stretched across the road, got out and it slowly slithered off into the bushes right off the road. And as soon as the tail went in it stopped, and I'll be danged if I couldn't see it AT ALL. I was probably 10 feet from it and couldn't see it, even after I'd just watched it slither into the brush. That kinda got into my head given some of the bushes and areas I was working around at times in the middle of nowhere.
 
I've always wondered how the mosquitoes in Canada can survive winters when temperatures stay below 0°F for weeks. I've heard central and northern Canada have swarms of huge mosquitoes in the summer
