• Looks like our DeLorean hit 88 miles per hour a little too hard! A recent style update went sideways, sending us back to a retro look for a bit. We've parked that faulty future theme for now while we tinker under the hood.

Wildfire Events Thread

This is a great thread idea, and I only just found it.

It's a little too late for predictions, though I'm pleased that west central Oregon had somewhat extended spring rains and now might be getting early fall rains -- unusual in the short time I've been out here, and welcome.

At least since the 2020 Labor Day fires, we're usually noticing how dry it is this time of year and hoping, even with no red-flags up, that no stray sparks cause trouble near us.

I wonder how much predictions might have verified anywhere this year, though.

For one of the latest examples (checks calendar -- yep, last Sunday in September):

Thought this would be a good time to bump this thread, I’m sure our PacNW members here have been dealing with some smoke lately. Oregon has a bunch of large fires currently ongoing, and there’s also a lot of smoke moving south out of Canada into the plains.

It’s been hazy here in northern Utah for the last week or two from the occasional smoke, though today was the first time I’ve been able to smell it at all. HRRR shows some thicker smoke rolling through here tomorrow.

Summer is always dry here in Utah, but we’ve only had one measurable rain (and that was only about 0.1”) in the last 50ish days. Everything is very dried out around here and there’s ample fire after two wet winters in a row.

Guess I should’ve posted about it being dry sooner
