It is put together by the Iowa Envioronmental Mesonet team at Iowa State University and allows you get real time updates from weather offices across the country. You can have multiple tabs open within the page to follow multiple offices. I keep the sound up because a chime will play with every update.

Here's some playlists that should come in handy too

First and foremost Rich Thompson's forecasting workshop is the ultimate educational series for understanding severe weather, excellently bridging the gap between amateur and the highly technical (this particular playlist in fact compiled by our own Fred Gossage)

Tornado Titans has a LOT of educational playlists on understanding severe weather in addition to their many chase videos

Skip Talbot has some very insightful videos as well, with some very useful tips for storm spotting

There are many spotter classes on Youtube, but the series from NWS Norman is well-arranged and easy to navigate to particular topics

I’m learning how to use Pivatol weather for severe forecasts especially the HRRR, which has proven to be accurate for these events!!

If anyone has the chance to take a storm spotters class it’s worth it’s weight in gold as far as learning how to read soundings (I assume they still teach this), models and severe weather lingo and meaning!!

The spotter classes in AL sound much better than the ones in GA. I’ve never seen them refer to, much less, talk about soundings or model data. Here, they are pretty basic and even the adv class is not that advanced. It wasn’t a spotter class, but the radar class last night from the Memphis office was REALLY good and educational.
