Tornado Anniversaries

Do any of those photos show the damage on Locust Ave.?
The first and third photos are different angles of the area around Locust St & Stagecoach Rd. The second is roughly Locust St & Woodland Dr. Photo #6 and #9 are also homes along Locust St, although I'm not sure exactly where.

Edit: Should also add that photo #8 isn't from the F4. It's the area of F3 damage on Cottage St & Custer Ave caused by the anticyclonic tornado on the north side of town.

30th anniversary of the Panhandle tornado outbreak with the Pampa, Hoover, Kellerville, and Allison tornadoes today. Top 3 event I wish I could go back in chase in the modern era.

Oh my god....June 8th.........So many anniversaries....

1947: What is likely the strongest tornado in Colorado state history tears through Logan County. It is perhaps the only photographed Colorado violent tornado. None are killed, but damage is extreme. This tornado likely reached F5 intensity.

1953: A massive tornado outbreak unfolds across the Midwest. The city of Flint, Michigan is hit by an F5 tornado. Tornadoes near Temperance, Michigan and Cygnet, Ohio also likely reached F5 intensity. The Flint tornado becomes the last tornado to kill over 100 people in the US until Joplin.

1966: It was long believed in the city of Topeka, Kansas that a notorious mound - Burnett's Mound - would save the city from tornadic harm. In 1966, that faith is shattered. Spectacularly. 16 die as the F5 tornado tears through the city, passing right over Burnett's Mound without even skipping a beat and then plunging into the city below. The tornado is ultimately responsible for over 100 million dollars in damage.

1984: A single clap of thunder is all that warns the residents of Barneveld, WI of imminent disaster. An F5 tornado rolls through just after midnight, resulting in catastrophic damage and nine deaths. It is the only F5 rated tornado of the year.

1995: An extraordinary day. A classic Texas Panhandle setup produces THREE F4 tornadoes, including a very well documented one that directly impacted the town of Pampa. Based on all available evidence, all three F4s and the Dimmitt, TX F2 all plausibly or likely reached F5 intensity. Miraculously, no one is killed.

That's my job!

June 9th, eh?

1953: The final day of the June 1953 outbreak sequence. What was likely an F5 tornado, the strongest in New England history, causes mass destruction and deaths near Worcester, Massachusetts. Several other significant tornadoes occur in the region that day. The Worcester tornado remains the strongest, deadliest and most destructive tornado in New England history.

1984: The Soviet Union's worst tornado outbreak unfolds. Up to 400 die. Two violent tornadoes are confirmed - both could have plausibly reached F5 intensity and the Ivanovo one was officially rated as such until 2018.

I wonder if that dark red spot in southern Kansas is for June 12, 2004. It's the 21st anniversary of Mulvane, quite possibly still the most photogenic single tornado of all time (particularly for those who caught it front-lit with the rainbow). The most iconic photos of it were probably taken by the late Eric Nguyen.

I thought the Sherman, TX tornado in 1896 was the strongest of the 19th century but the Richmond, WI tornado of 1899 was certainly at or near comparison although. Both tornadoes were extremely violent.

Based on the evidence we currently have, New Richmond was one of the most violent tornadoes possibly of all time. Some of the damage images avaliable show nothing but absolute destruction at an incredibly high end level.
