Barely rained in Hayden, AL. Schools in neighboring counties dismissed early for this system based on forecasts. Ridiculous. In 1987 we would not have even considered that. The weather industry is now part of the nanny state.

I believe it was done in Alabama for 4/27/11 due to effective messaging of the extreme threat that day. It became standard practice in many places (may have already been in some) after two elementary schools were hit in Moore on 5/20/13, with seven children killed at one of them. It is a fine line though, doing it for every slight risk may seem excessive although, with just small changes in conditions slight risk days can still produce significant tornadoes.

There was one tornado in the Florida panhandle yesterday.
