The emergency is likely aimed at the much larger population yet to be impacted. The warning earlier that had just Barnsdall indicated less than 2000 people. Still awful for them, but the emergency is aimed at a much larger population.

For the past 4 years or so it's always been the nighttime tornadoes that hit towns head on and go through densely populated areas. This really needs to stop.

Unfortunately that was always a pretty likely scenario given the timing of the peak parameters.

I had 212mph GTG. Don't see how this isn't a violent tornado.

This is so significant that KOCO 5 is covering the storm despite northwestern OK being outside of their viewing area.
