Severe Weather Threat May 17-19, 2025

I wouldn't call off the event until something drastic happens and/or the nighttime hours show nothing of interest
I didn’t call off the event, I said the peak. We’ve been discussing the stable air over Kansas since noon today. There’s something obviously off with the environment around the Arnett storm, and the Kansas storms are moving north straight into stable air.

WoFS isn't looking promising for much more activity. Looks like the existing storms will mostly weaken with a couple stronger storms (it really wants to keep the Woodward, OK storms going), but overall WoFS seems to think things are winding down. Big complex of storms looks to move towards DFW though - mostly hail threat.

As always, take it with a grain of salt, but it has been pretty good so far regarding storm initiation and placement.

I think North Texas might be a big sleeper threat in the next 2-4 hours.

I agree. Nothing mentioned about why he thinks that. Is it just a guess? Is it something you saw? Which part of N Texas are you referring to? Please be a little more specific when making that kind of a statement.

Sure thing.

The environment down there is relatively favorable and is already overperforming against the cap.

The supercell west of Ft. Worth is all alone in an untapped environment. If it can fight the cap, it could go nuts.

The air aloft is extremely dry around the storm, that’s what’s killing it, the storm doesn’t have any other neighbors to reinforce it.

The storms in Kansas are still producing tornadoes, honestly not sure why everyone saying storms are running into stable air, they haven’t made it there yet, but they’re obviously being effected by dry air aloft as well.

Ryan Hall is becoming unwatchable. They need to kill the 'Try too hard to talk cute and hip' mode of that stupid Y'allbot. I want to see tornado coverage, not cringe nonsense.

100% agree! Yet another person overtaken by their own "fame" and hype. You've got live tornadoes, and he's talking about nonsense of no importance. It drives me crazy. Not to mention all the trying-to-be-too-cute songs, sayings, and Yall'Bot.
