Severe WX Severe Weather Threat June 19-23

Haven't been able to follow super close today, but good lord, 40 tornado reports on a slight risk day with a 5% cig 1 is absolutely brutal. Sounds like a dozen of them will be significant as well.

I'm not as big on tornado history as a lot of people on this forum, but this has to be a top 3 "surprise" outbreak in the last 25 years, right?

Y'all. SPC clearly had that area in a 5% CIG 1 all day today. Okay. It's not like they didn't see it or not have anything out. Let's chill.

Yeah seriously. Y'all are acting like the SPC had a 2% TOR risk, with no hatching.

And for the 5000th time, these SPC outlooks are *not" tailored towards the general public, but moreso EMA's, first responders, and weather dweebs like us. At the end of the day, it's all up to the local and national TV mets, as well as the local NWS offices to provide proper messaging to the public.

Besides, what good woulda it been to upgrade to a 10% CIG 1, compared to 5% CIG 1? What messaging would be different?
We've heard it before, when the general public looks at severe weather outlooks, they can just see it, like James Spann would say, a bucket of spilled paint. It's up to TV meteorologists and local NWS offices to provide proper messaging to the public.
